Where Do You Want To Live?
He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." --Revelation 21:5

My friend and I watched with interest the construction of a 26-story building in downtown Grand Rapids. As we observed the impressive structure, we discussed the skill and techniques of the construction process.

Now that it's completed, I find it interesting to walk by the beautiful complex and think about the people living in the upper-level apartments. They have a convenient downtown location, luxurious surroundings, and a magnificent view of the city. I heard a passerby say, "If I could just get that top-floor apartment, I could live there forever."

But think about that possibility. Imagine spending eternity anywhere on this old earth. Buildings deteriorate. Neighborhoods change. Nations collapse. World conditions worsen. To capture the very best of this world and hold on to it forever would be to miss something far better--the glorious wonders of heaven.

How earthbound we can grow in our thinking! No believer in Jesus Christ should ever want to spend eternity on this earth as it is. We build no lasting home here. Only when we get to our permanent place in heaven should we ever want to say, "I could live here forever!"  — David C. Egner

How glorious to think ahead
Of blessings yet to be,
Of help from God while life shall last--
Then joys eternally! --JDB
The more you look forward to heaven, the less you'll desire of earth.
