Every believer in Christ is involved in spiritual warfare every day. We cannot afford, therefore, to enter the day complacently.
In an article for the San Francisco Chronicle, Herb Caen wrote, "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle; when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."
British pastor Charles Spurgeon wrote, "If you are not seeking the Lord, the devil is seeking you." We must not wait until we are attacked by Satan to think about the strategy we should use to escape the enemy of our soul. We must seek the Lord early, keenly aware that "the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8).
In Psalm 5 we read that David expressed his need for God's help. He came to the Lord early in the morning, seeking His guidance and protection (vv.3,8,12).
Let's not move into any new day without being aware of our urgent need for the Lord. Preparedness is the best way to be ready for Satan's attack. — David C. Egner
With each new day my thought shall be
Of all that Christ has done for me;
I'll think about His love and care,
Then face the day with faith and prayer. —DJD
Start each day with your armor in place and your marching orders in hand.
