Spirituals: Songs of the Soul
In celebration of Black History Month, join us for a very special music presentation—Spirituals: Songs of the Soul. Born from deep feelings within the soul and written by nameless writers, spirituals were sometimes called “songs of sorrow.” These heartfelt songs gave hope and meaning to poor black slaves, in spite of the most trying of circumstances. Join singer and host Wintley Phipps as he presents some of the most familiar and best-loved spirituals—songs of the soul.
