Today on Sports Spectrum we’ll meet the defensive coordinator at Duke University, Mike McIntyre. It is a rebuilding period at Duke under head coach David Cutcliffe. The Blue Devils have not had a winning season since 1994. But there’s renewed optimism in Durham, Mike tells us why and talks about his philosophy of coaching.
Events on the court and field of play often illustrate life lessons. It’s an era of chest thumping, "look at me" show boaters, Sports Spectrum chaplain, Bill Crowder talks about the concept of humility. He also talks about what we can learn by viewing the offensive line during a football game.
We also hear a story of service in a conversation with a quarterback at North Carolina State, Daniel Evans. It was hard to serve the best interests of the team when he lost his starting position one week then a week later throws the winning touchdown pass on national television. Then the next week he was assigned the back-up quarterback position. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster…or has it—Daniel shares some of the details.
Finally, we take your phone call. We’d like to hear your thoughts on your favorite football coach of all time.
It adds up to 55 minutes of sports, real-life issues and faith, join us for Sports Spectrum.
